FEATURED  WINNERS

ELAINE MISCALL 1963

Number 1 on the list of 10 winners in the new doco is Elaine Miscall who won the crown in 1963 and went on to place 2nd at Miss World later that year. As beautiful as Brigitte Bardot many of the London press labelled her the hot fave that year. I made contact with her a few years ago through Di when I was filming "The Model Diaries" and said we must do an interview and she is one of the first on my list when I can travel to Australia when the borders open up.

SUE NICOLSON 1974

The 2nd Miss New Zealand to confirm for the new documentary is Sue Nicolson who won the crown in 1974 and was a finalist in Miss World later that year. I’m very happy to have her on board as I really wanted a winner from the 1970s.

DELYSE NOTTLE 1980

Two days before the Miss Universe 1980 final the press photographers voted Delyse as the winner of Miss Photogenic and she rocketed up and took over all the 75 contestants as equal fave to win along with Miss Sweeden and Miss USA with bookies odds of 3-1 . Delyse ended up as 2nd runner up and went on to become a successful international model working in europe for years. The camera loves Delyse and I rank her as one of the best models I have photographed in my 32 years behind the lens.

SANDY DEXTER 1982

So happy to have Sandy as part of the 10 Miss New Zealand winners featuring in the new doco. Sandy won in 1982 and at the time was a model with Morrison Models. Nikki Lovrich who was her booker tells me she was one of only a few full time models working in Auckland at the time and Sandy got every job going !

LORRAINE DOWNES 1983

No documentary on the history of Miss New Zealand would be complete without having beautiful Lorraine Downes included. Not only did she win the title of Miss Universe in 1983 she has written two books and won " Dancing With The Stars" . Thank you Lorraine for contributing as one of my winners and I look forward to hearing your story and you might be able to teach me a few dance moves along the way.

BARBARA MCDOWELL 1984

6th on the list of the selected Miss New Zealand winners that appear in the new doco is Barbara McDowell who was one of the funniest people I have ever interviewed. She went on to win Mrs World in 1987 and to model internationally for designers such as Jean Paul Gaultier and Revlon. Barbara is what we call in the biz as a "true bloody legend "

ADELE KENNY 1990

One amazing Miss New Zealand to include into the new Doco is Adelle Kenny from 1990 who was only 17 at the time and ended up getting 4th place at Miss World that year . Adelle chopped all her hair off short and got on a plane to Milan to become an international model working all around the world for many years. I didn"t have any winner from the 90s selected so I guess 1990 sneaks in and its great to have her on board.

LORRAINE &TRACEY DAISLEY 1988

Number 8 on the list of Miss New Zealand's for the new doco is a bit of a curve ball ! Tracey and Lolly were crowned Miss Mother Daughter New Zealand in 1988 and jetted off to the world final in Guam to compete against 60 other countries. They made the top 10 and were bloody robbed in my opinion ! Not every Miss New Zealand went to Miss Universe or World and Iam seeing there were many different contests that used the name Miss New Zealand .

HOLLY MICHELLE CASSIDY 2013

The 9th of the 10 Miss New Zealand winners featuring in the new doco is Holly Michelle Cassidy who won in 2013 and along with Jess Tyson is one of the only winners that feature who won after 1990. I always think Holly is one of the nicest and most beautiful winners. I worked on the telecast that year and as soon as I saw her I knew she would win. A bit of class.

JESSICA TYSON 2018

Lucky last on the list of Miss New Zealand's confirmed for the new doco is Jess Tyson. Jess won the title in 2018 and had a comeback for New Zealand by getting into the top 6 for the first time in 24 years at Miss World 2018. Jess was regarded by the international press as the one to watch. After taking thousands of photos of Jess I regard her as one of the most beautiful faces I have photographed ever.
